This whimsical and surreal painting features a floating cluster of coffee mugs, teacups, and kettles — each uniquely designed with intricate patterns, expressive character, and a touch of familiar nostalgia. Suspended in a dreamy sky, steam and music notes swirl around the upper stack like dancing spirits, while a single energetic line winds its way around the composition. Are they falling… or floating? Hints of herbs, spices, and dangling tea tags add a sense of ritual. A hummingbird zips by, buzzing the tower like a curious messenger. The scene pulses with both chaos and harmony — a celebration of morning rituals, imagination, and the quiet magic woven into everyday objects.

This piece is rooted in an idea I’ve carried since childhood—one that brings me back to early memories of wonder, imagination and magic. Inspired by my longtime love for coffee and the feeling it gives me—the comfort, focus, and warmth at morning time in the studio, and I do love morning time….it is definitely my favorite time of the year! There is also something addicting in trying to capture the shine of porcelain — that smooth, reflective surface that almost feels alive when the light hits just right. I began this painting live at a cannabis event in Santa Rosa, California. It quickly found a new home that day. After the event, I took it back to the studio to refine the details and fully bring the vision to life before delivering it to its new owner.
