This piece is a surreal bouquet floating in space — like a little island of flowers drifting through the cosmos.
At the top, two sunflowers bend and droop dramatically, their golden heads turned downward like ancient guardians. Petals fall softly into the dark, while colorful, cloudlike swirls spiral around them, hinting at movement and unseen energy.
In the middle, plumeria and hibiscus bloom with tropical vibrance — they were still in my head after finishing a Hawaiian landscape I painted earlier that year. Their soft, glowing petals in pinks and purples feel alive, like they’re pulsing with warmth and nostalgia.
As your eye moves down, bold crimson flowers and monstera leaves emerge above the stars. A sun flare reaches across the canvas turning into different geometric shapes creating a theatrical effect
This bouquet doesn’t grow from soil… it grows from stardust and constellations. It’s rooted in rhythm and mystery — a dreamlike fusion of nature and the universe, where creation and imagination collide.

I painted this piece live at The American Legion lodge in South Lake Tahoe — a gritty, beloved venue known for its underground bass shows and vibrant energy. The atmosphere that night was electric, and the bouquet in this painting seemed to grow right out of that pulse.
The image was inspired by a recent piece I had finished — a Hawaiian scene filled with plumeria, hibiscus, and a vibrant green monstera. Those forms were still fresh in my mind, and without realizing it at the time, this idea of the clock chimes dangling below would eventually evolve merge with an older concept that led to one of my favorite pieces to this day — Angie and Absolute Harmony.
I brought Flower Island nearly to completion during the event, letting the music guide the motion and color, then added a few final touches in the studio. The piece sold quickly, which always feels like a beautiful affirmation — like its energy found the right home.
